ON THE WATERFRONT

ON THE WATERFRONT CONTINUED...
Details of souls reaching toward heaven.

please see previous post

I painted this at a time when I was
considering
eternity ....
long before
I grew old
and helped
Eldon......
meet Jesus.
Thank you for letting me share this painting.
Some day it will hang in another house
with other people looking
for
departing souls in the nooks and crannies
in the layers of paint.

Thank you.
p.s.  if you spot "someone" in the painting that I missed seeing
let me know.

ON THE WATERFRONT

Revisiting my blog ...
This painting has been one of my favorite.
I gave it to Dean, who gave it to Nathan and Pauline. Perhaps they still own it .. or have passed it on.
My paintings have been cherished, thrown away, given away, sold and lost, won awards and sought after.  But each one remembered.
A painting takes on a life of its own ... from artist to purchaser or relative... friend, and stranger. This would make a fascinating novel "Journey ... A Painting"
Part 2 with more details of the "people" in this painting will be posted tomorrow.

A most intriguing depiction
of souls
reaching toward heaven .....

WHAT PEOPLE DO YOU SEE IN THIS PAINTING?

Can you find the Sea Captain?
How about the Old Woman ... or
Violin Man?

There are some people in anguish ...
serene,
lusty,
a Boy Scout and
a child.

And if you look up into the sky
you might find someone floating upward.

MY CURRENT PAINTING CORNER, 2011

I've always had a Painting Corner .... in my homes
and in my boats.

I painted THE WATERFRONT many years ago
before we sailed off into the sunsets of Mexico and Canada.

It intrigued me as I layered each color and image
that came to mind .... but it was meant to be only a waterfront scene, done in a loose and surrealistic way.

Surrealistic it became.
After the painting was finished
(the Sea Captain was the only
deliberate person I painted into the scene)
I stood back to look at the colorful ... unusual for me style....
and another image popped out at me.
And then another.
Rather like laying in the grass and looking up into the sky.
Other faces
images
forms
people

I looked closely at one then another.
Picked up my brush and paint and
pulled them out of the shadows.

It was the most interesting,
intriguing,
spiritual work I've ever painted.

The images are .... as if ...
souls departing.
Souls in different stages at time of demise.

As a Christian
I believe they were souls
getting ready to meet
their Maker.
Joyful
terrified
unsure
serene
happy
or innocent.

What do you think?
