METAMORPHIS ...STAGES OF RESTING, GROWING, REPRODUCING

NEWS FLASH! Latest update!
A MOST HELPFUL READER
JUST CLARIFIED THAT
WHAT I SAID WAS
A "BUTTERFLY" ON CONNER'S HEAD IS ....
..........................
GASP!

IS ACTUALLY A
MOTH.

Thank you, faithful readers, for keeping me accurate.
But she, who wishes to remain anonymous,
noted that butterflies and moths go through the same
metamorphis process.
Conner and his butterfly friend...
(ERRR,   MOTH)

Hey, Conner, who's your friend?

One of these creatures in the photo above
has spent it's entire life, up to now,
going through an amazing " metamorphis".

If you know Conner,
you're probably thinking
that he looks almost the same now
as he did a few years ago
when this picture was taken.
He's just gotten bigger.

"Metamorphis" means change of form.
It's the way insects grow and mature. Their lives are divided into separate stages for resting, growing and reproducing.

/Gradual growth vs. growth in stages

Humans grow gradually.
You begin life as a baby and grow a little at a time
until you're an adult.
While you're growing, the basic plan of your body doesn't change.
You have the same body your whole life.

 However....

Insects grow in stages.
The cycle of stages is called
metamorphosis.
For many insects,
the stages are so different from one another
that you might not recognize them
as the same animal.

CAUTION .......
THE BIG GUY IN THE NEXT PICTURE
WAS  UGLY WHEN HE WAS BORN,
GREW  INTO AN UGLY YOUNGSTER,
AND JUST BECAME AN UGLY ADULT.

UNLESS YOU'RE A MOMMY UGLY- SPIDER...
THEN  I IMAGINE HE'S QUITE HANDSOME!

.............................................................................................................

Speaking of
UGLY .............
well, maybe not ugly,
but a bit scarey!

Observing the metamorphosis of certain insects is fascinating.
The stages of  metamorphosis are not dissimiliar to the grief-stages
after the death of a loved one.
These stages bring us through deeply emotional
 "growth spurts".
Some we linger at for awhile,
others too painful
so we move on.
But linger again
when
strength returns.

My "Metamorphosis

Many years ago,
when I was still young,
I desired to be free
from the constraints and injuries
that had bound me as a child.

I closed my eyes,
wrapped my arms tightly around me
as if to pray ........

But the words were unspoken
as if in a dream .... a wide awake dream.

I was in a safe place,
not dark
where images blend and wave over you
waiting to see
what will be.

I opened my arms wide
as if to fly
and I saw
in my spirit
I had become a
butterfly.

............................................

You'll never
fly
if you don't
jump off  your perch,
spread your wings,
and FLAP!

But I'm still a "butterfly"......
fragile,
yet strong.
Trusting
that I can
 sit atop places,
once too scarey for me
(see Conner's hat above)

Oh Lord,
help me to soar,
to  find sweet blossoms
to nourish and
sustain me
when I have
no
strength
of
my
own.
Thanks, God.

The purpose of writing this blog continues to be:
WHOW, Widows Helping Other Widows

I welcome comments, advice, and positive ideas from and for widows,
no matter what age.
The most important thing is we grow through this grieving process ..
sometimes with laughter
or tears
prayer
and courage to go on without him.... or her.
Thank you, and I welcome your imput.

ORIGINAL POST:
I wasn't  too sure where this post was going
when I began writing this morning.
But I've been drawn into the
pageantry and beauty of
The Royal Wedding.
3 a.m. on the couch with blanket and pillow and hot minty tea

"William and Kate
the future King and Queen of England"

They're the same generation as
my Brides and Grooms.
I turned the  t.v. on to watch the nuptuals at 3:15 a.m.
and missed Kate's longgggggggg walk down the aisle.
I got in on the pageantry just as she was meeting her
"Prince Charming" at the altar.
If Kate and her Father had taken a wrong turn walking down the longgggg aisle,
they'd still be trying to find them in that
vast cathedral .... is it called a cathedral in England?
..................................
I'll keep adding to my blog,
adding the photographs of the rest of my
"prince and princesses",
photos of
those yet to be married,
and those who have been married but are no longer.
Doesn't this sound just like your family?
Your family may have more or less relatives,
be more or less colorful than mine,
love and care for you a little more or less
than I'm loved..

Now let me think ... where did I put the Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren's
photos? It has to be in one of those ....
shoeboxes ....
maybe on the top shelf in my closet ....
I'll find them.
Not too easy to misplace shoeboxes overflowing with
photos of the people I love
..............................
In the meantime,
Here's a list of suggestions - of which
nobody asked me for a list of suggestions -

"A Happy Wife is a Happy Life"        and

"A Little Fishing, Hunting, and Playing
Will Keep A Hubby Staying"
......................................

"All together now .... PUSH! Row, row, row!"
And the wife standing on shore yells,
"No dear ... I think I want it
over there by the rocks instead."
And the good husband says,
"Yes dear."
.........................

If he wants to be a sailor
LET him be a sailor.
Just don't EVER let him
untie from the
dock!
............................

A happy wife is a happy life.
Build her a greenhouse,
rototill her garden space,
haul pick-up loads of manure and compost and
whatever she asks for .....
then just step back and let her grow!
That's a win-win situation!

 Wives .... with your husbands
 visit our nation's war memorials,
tomb of the Unknown Soldier,
Arlington National Cemetary,
then hug him close and tell him how much
you love him.

Tell your wife,
"You look especially beautiful this morning,
dear!"
And if you sound like you mean it,
she might not mind  if you
hang out on the couch all day watching the Seahawks
beat .... whoever they may be playing.

Grandpas and Dads
love your daughters, and granddaughters AND daughters-in-law.
They will be a joy to you when you're young,
the mothers of your grandbabies in your middle years,
and your caregiver when you are old.

Accept his flowers...
any kind any kind of flowers,
anywhere he finds one to pick for you,
and let him
put it in your hair.

If she wants a little red scooter,
let her buy a little red scooter.
Just be sure to tell her she can never,
ever
under any circumstances
make left hand turns!
................................................

Golden gems
of good advice,
which nobody
 asked for,
and may not
pay attention to!
But they can't say I didn't
warn 'em!

NOT   THE    END!
